Their chips are golden and crispy, and have beaten all their competitors to be named the best in LBO land.
Lord Chips, a mobile fish and chip shop serving the Leighton area, is a familiar sight on the streets as it serves up portions of the nation’s favourite food.
The business, run by owners Mick and Karen Turrell, received the most votes in our contest and has been crowned the Leighton Buzzard Observer Chip Shop of the Year, 2014.
The contest launched back in February, and was your chance to tell us your favourite fish and chip shop.
Your nominations created our final shortlist of six local establishments and after three weeks of voting, Lord Chips has been crowned the winner!
Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted and got in touch – we’ve been overwhelmed by the response.
To commemorate their success, Lord Chips will be presented with our special Chip Shop of the Year 2014 certificate.
Mick said: “Thanks to everybody who voted – I was a bit surprised to be honest but it’s great for us.
“We travel around to estates that don’t have fish and chip shops and we cook everything fresh. Everything is cooked to order and we like to put good service to customers first and give them what they want.”
Following on from the success of our Chip Shop of the Year competition, we will shortly be launching our Salon of the Year contest.
For full details on how to nominate your favourite hair and/or beauty salon, simply pick up a copy of the LBO on Tuesday, May 6.
