Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) has appointed a new lay member to its governing body.
Saqhib Ali has been appointed as lay member for governance and audit for the CCG, which is responsible for planning and buying NHS-funded healthcare for the 441,000 people in Bedfordshire.
Saqhib Ali, who grew up in the county, studied as a medical student before training as an auditor with Touche Ross.
Mr Ali has worked in the finance sector for more than 20 years.
He currently works as the head of customer solutions for Lloyds Community Bank.
Mr Ali said: “I am really looking forward to working with BCCG. I have several years’ experience working at a senior level in the financial sector and I believe, with this in mind, that I will be valuable to the CCG as it undertakes its journey to strengthen its financial position in the years ahead.”
Steve Hone, Chair of BCCG, said: “Saqhib brings a wealth of experience and skills to the CCG as we strive to improve our financial controls, stabilise our financial position and set in process our financial recovery plan for 2015-18.”
