New perspective by artist Simon Chambers

Wing artist exhibits at Courtyard Gallery.

THE public will get a new perspective on Wing artist Simon Chambers when a new exhibition of his work opens on Saturday.

The former graphic designer is showcasing his work of abstract oil paintings at The Courtyard Gallery which was open by fellow Wing villager Janet Childs just a few months ago.

His inspiration comes from dreams and the artist has been following his dreams for the past seven years after becoming disillusioned with his chosen career.

"I had an overwhelming desire to create. I taught myself to paint. Abstract art made itself apparent to me as the best way of expressing this feeling," said Simon.

"My inspiration comes from the natural world all around me and from deep within. From my waking life and in my dreams. My practise revolves around the constant experimentation and development of new ideas and ways of expression to further my exploration of the imagination".

He's been painting seriously for nearly seven years and exhibiting for the last five.

"I had a piece accepted for a major London show, The Discerning Eye, a year or so ago and I also work with photography and create digital imagery in a similar vein to my paintings.

"I am a published poet and am currently working on a collection for publication".

The Courtyard Gallery, in the courtyard of the King's Head, off Market Square, Aylesbury, was opened to promote local artists.

It launches Portals of Perspective on Saturday and the exhibition runs until June 28. Opening times are 11am -6pm.
