Maggie Lines and the Axe and Compass pub in Heath and Reach are hosting a Party for Parkinson’s on October 25, to raise much-needed funds for more research into this increasingly prevalent disease.

Each year Maggie, who lives in Heath and Reach and is a Parkinson’s sufferer of almost eight years, contributes in some way to raising funds for Parkinson’s research by presenting talks to groups or one big event, such as the Party for Parkinson’s.

A few celebrity sufferers of Parkinson’s are Mohammed Ali, Michael J. Fox and the more recently diagnosed comedian Billy Connolly. Maggie’s event runs from 6.30pm-10.30pm.

Tickets are £7.50 per person which includes a free drink and a lucky number for a chance to win in the prize draw. Prizes have beeny donated by Champneys at Henlow Grange, Elemis, Decleor, Harpers dress shop and Mr Nigel Strofton to name but a few.

The entertainment for the evening will be performed by three great music acts, Razz, an all-female vocal group, Red Diamond, a local pop-rock band, and the ever-popular Rock Chorus singing group. The music starts at 7pm.

The Axe & Compass will be supplying 60s-style meals in a basket at £5 each, to buy on the evening or you can pre-order from the pub. Call 01525 237394 for tickets and food orders.

Maggie said: “Jake and Ryan, joint landlords of the Axe & Compass have been very helpful with their time and experience in holding charity events.

“They have pledged to give a percentage of their profits from the evening’s activities to the Parkinson’s UK charity. All are welcome to attend this great night of music and fun.”
