Peek behind the red velvet curtains at Milton Keynes Gallery

The macabre and surreal on stage at venue this Thursday.

Scratch Nights at Milton Keynes Gallery are a new series of free events by emerging local and national artists working in the fields of experimental music/sound, film, performance, cinema, spoken word and other practices.

The series will be interspersed with occasional networking events, an alternative talk series and book launches.

Scratch Nights will provide a platform for cultural events open to multi-disciplinary collaborative approaches, and are offered as an extended studio or rehearsal space for meeting and discussion.

The second event takes place at the gallery (next to Milton Keynes Theatre) from 7pm – 9pm on Thursday (Jan 28) and takes account of the themes and content of the Marcus Coates exhibition which has just opened and runs until April.

Cult'let by Red Velvet Curtain Cult

The Red Velvet Curtain Cult (RVCC) is a collective of artists who create immersive, theatrical experiences with a range of playful, macabre, surreal and beautiful activities.

For Milton Keynes Gallery, they have devised Cult'let, an evening of events featuring interventions and live art by six or more artists in the gallery's spaces.

The artists have been selected in relation to the work of Marcus Coates. Since founded in 2006 by artists Lili Spain & Sarah Grainger Jones, RVCC has held events at various London venues including four sell out shows at The Whitechapel Art Gallery.
