Police helicopter search for missing pensioner

A police search for a missing pensioner lasted nearly twelve hours before he was found safe and well at a relative’s house.

Beds Police received a call at 9.45pm on Tuesday January 6 from a concerned relative to say that an 80-year-old man had gone missing from his address in Leighton Buzzard.

A number of police cars arrived to search the area around Hockliffe Road looking for the man. Police officers spoke to members of the public and even dropped by The Lancer pub looking to trace the man’s wherabouts.

A nearby police helicopter was also brought into action to search the area around the town for any sign of him.

A number of Facebook users made comments about the search.

Emily Young posted “They stopped me on Dudley street asking if I’d seen him, poor man. I really hope he’s found safe.”

At 9.30am the call came that the man had been reported safe and well at a family member’s home.
