Flags are flying at half mast at both Central Beds Council and Bucks County Council following the death of Nelson Mandela on Thursday.
Carl Etholen, chairman of Buckinghamshire County Council said: ‘Nelson Mandela’s understanding and forgiveness made his fight for peace, justice and freedom even more remarkable.
“He was an inspirational leader not just for his country but also an example for all world leaders to follow.
“I believe in the importance of recognising the passing of such a great statesman by flying the flags at half-mast to mark the county council’s profound respect for all that he did. He will be sadly missed by millions of us.’
