Search for suitable site for new homes

Central Bedfordshire Council is calling on residents, landowners and developers to suggest potential sites for housing development.

The suggestions will be used by the council to prepare its Allocations Local Plan. This will identify specific sites for at least 2,000 new homes to help meet housing needs up to 2031.

For a site to be considered it must be capable of accommodating between 15 and 500 houses.

If anyone wishes to promote a site for an alternative use, the council will also like to hear from them. The authority would be especially interested in any land proposed for older persons’ accommodation.

As part of the Allocations Local Plan, the council is also seeking to make and review specific planning designations, such as settlement boundaries, and important open spaces. Again, residents and interested parties are invited to submit their proposals to the council.

Councillor Nigel Young, Executive Member for Strategic Planning, said: “This is an opportunity for people across Central Bedfordshire to send us details about sites they think could potentially be suitable for future housing.

“We will carefully consider all suggestions and use them to help us meet future housing needs.”
