One of Leighton’s oldest pubs became the talk of social media over the last week– thanks to a humorous sign it placed in its beer garden.

Patrons at the Black Lion, on High Street, have been reminded to keep an eye on their children– with a placard jokingly telling parents that little ones could be nailed to the table for convenience.

A picture of the sign went viral after being shared on Twitter by the LBO’s Geoff Cox on Saturday, with many users of the social network site stating their pleasure at the tongue-in-cheek reminder.

The image also garnered more than 200 ‘likes’ on the LBO’s Facebook page.

Stev Stipanovic, who runs the pub with Nikki Garratt, told the LBO that the sign was intended as a ‘bit of fun’.

He said: “The sign has been there since the pub reopened and though it is a bit of fun on a serious note we don’t want any accidents to happen.”

Mr Stipanovic added that the sign has raised a lot of laughs with customers.
