Oxjam kicks off in style on Saturday, March 1 with an opening concert featuring a broad range of live music, and the official launch of the 18-track festival CD, at the Raven Theatre and Atrium at Cedars Upper School.

Headlining the event is 19-piece jazz orchestra Orchestral Manoeuvres in Jazz, with support from the Natasha Seale Trio, The Situators, and Rock Chorus.

There will also be short spots by Barricade, Isabelle, 227 Laurel Canyon, and Chasm, all of whom perform original tracks on the CD. Copies of the CD will be available to buy during the evening, priced at £5.

Tickets for the concert, priced at £10 (under 18s £5), are available from the Oxfam shop, Wildwood, The Green House and The Crown pub, or on the door, and all proceeds from the event will go to Oxfam. Doors open at 6.15pm, with music from 6.30pm to 11pm.

There’ll be a further chance to catch West End singer Natasha Seale leading her jazz trio on Sunday, March 2 at The Green House, where they perform monthly. And on Tuesday, March 4, local soprano and costume artist Fiona Harrison appears at All Saints Church Coffee Shop from 11am-3pm, offering an afternoon of romantic songs from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s.

Collections for Oxjam will take place at both events.
