Record crowds at Leighton Buzzard Railway

Three engines and every coach on Leighton Buzzard Railway were pressed into service when Buzzrail held a Volunteers Day recently.

While many visitors were doubtless drawn by bargain fares, it’s hoped many more will sign up to help sustain this important community project which is the town’s primary tourist attraction.

Jubilant chairman Terry Bendall said: “It was great fun being so busy – but we still need more people. Anyone interested can come along and see what we have to offer.

“It enables people of all ages to come together to learn new skill and make new friends.”

There’s more excitement and entertainment in store this weekend when LBR takes part in the town’s Oxjam festival on Sunday (April 2) – a band will be playing railway-inspired jazz at Page’s Park Station.

And it’s hoped the new Stonehenge Trail will be open shortly.
