Tring's Court Theatre host comedy and concerts

Award-winning musicians and a trio of comics for March.

THERE are three great events coming up at The Court Theatre, Tring, starting next week.

Next Wednesday ( March 3) The Get Stuffed Comedy Club presents a comedy threesome - Reginald D Hunter, Earl Okin and Tiernan Douieb.

All three are regulars on the stand-up circuit and tickets will sell fast.

*On Friday, March 5, classical fans can enjoy pianist Gunel Mirzayeva, the latest guest in the New Masters series of concerts.

Gunel, 22, is an extraordinarily gifted pianist from Azerbaijan. Despite her youth she is a frequent first prize winner on the International Piano Competition platform, resulting in regular performances with major world orchestras.

She will be including works by JS Bach and Chopin

*A day later there's Sax Appeal is led by Derek Nash, first saxophone with the Jools Holland Orchestra. It features a clutch of the finest young jazz saxophonists, a smart funky rhythm section and a score of winning arrangements.

This eight piece jazz ensemble mix driving swing, haunting ballads and danceable latin/funk to create enjoyable, enthusiastic, award-winning jazz.

Formed in Manchester in 1980 by leader Derek Nash, Sax Appeal went on to win the National Festival Of Music For Youth Jazz Combo of the Year award in 1983, culminating in performances at the Purcell Room, the Royal Albert Hall and on television.

The band also won the John Dankworth Award For Ensemble in the 1998 B.T. Jazz Awards.
