TV star Victoria Wood at Leighton Buzzard show premiere

Leighton Masqueraders make history with first am-dram production of Acorn Antiques.

AWARD-winning writer and actress Victoria Wood dropped into Leighton Library Theatre on Wednesday night to see the first amateur performance of her hit show Acorn Antiques.

Leighton Masqueraders performed the comedy to a full house and the production impressed their star guest.

LM chairman, Marilyn Whalley, said afterwards: "Victoria Wood herself attended and came backstage after the show to compliment all the cast on an excellent show.

"We are the first amateur company to stage the show and it has been enormous fun from start to finish. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the show with its catchy numbers and witty dialogue and Victoria certainly thought we had done it justice.

"It was a huge boost to the cast and directors that she was able to attend and for her then to come behind the scenes to talk to everyone was just fantastic."
