Musical Theatre High! Academy presented their second variety performance and sold out four shows at the Vandyke Upper School.

More than 170 students took part on March 29 and 30, singing, dancing and acting their hearts out, lighting up the theatre in Leighton Buzzard.

Principal and West End professional, Richard Reynard, directed and choreographed the show with exciting numbers from numerous musicals including Matilda and Once.

The school’s patron, Scarlett Strallen, who starred on Broadway and in the West End as Mary Poppins and soon to return to New York to act alongside Kenneth Branagh, presented her Stand Out Award to Anna Pridgeon.

The Potential Award was awarded to Jack Cullen with the Juniors Scholarship to Kaci James and After School Club Scholarship to Max Smith.

The show was received by more than 700 people to an outstanding response. Scarlett said: “I can’t believe the talent in Leighton Buzzard, amazing performances by future stars!”

The final performance was attended by Geoffrey Garratt, who recently staged Les Mis on Broadway and is currently choreographing Miss Saigon in the West End.

The Musical Theatre High! Academy runs Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Leighton Middle School throughout the school term. For more information visit
