The Wall of Death is coming to Leighton Buzzard next month –as one of the main attractions for the annual May Day Fayre.

Organisers, who are busy finalising arrangements for the event on Monday, May 2, have confirmed that Ken Fox has agreed to bring his Wall of Death motorcycle troupe to Leighton – guaranteed to bring plenty of thrills to the popular family day out.

It was Ken who coached Guy Martin to achieve his Guinness World Record speed on ‘the wall’ last month.

May Fayre spokesman David Edwards, of the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade, said: “Ken rides classic Indian bikes and the retro theme will be enhanced by a traditional wooden carousel giving rides on the recreation ground.

“We have displays by the renowned Coventry Corps of Drums in the arena interspersed with tug o’ war teams competing for a new trophy.

“MK Dons football club is, for the second year, encouraging youngsters to get involved in the game under the instruction of their training staff. This was very popular last year and, to add to the interest in football, Daniel Cutting, a professional football gymnast will show off his quite spectacular skills.”

Mr Edwards added that the Army was bringing a climbing wall and a helicopter (by road ) that the public can get up close to, Central Beds Council will be bringing safety car simulator Oscar, and the fire brigade will have an engine on the recreation ground to have a look at.

There will also be fairground rides at the bottom end of the High Street, the traditional maypole dance, entertainment and bands at the market cross and Jo Jefferson’s shire horse.

Mr Edwards added: “Of course,a major part of our event is the charity stalls in the High Street. If you have not booked yours please get in touch soon with Alan Layzell on 754820.”
