Waterway to spend a sunny Saturday in Leighton

Linslade Canal Festival is a great success

The annual Linslade Canal Festival just goes on getting bigger and better with an estimated 7,000 fun-seekers flocking to Tiddenfoot Waterside Park on Saturday.

The show, organised by Leighton-Linslade Town Council, started at 11am and included the official opening of the new footbridge over the canal by the High Sheriff Of Bedfordshire, Cynthia Gresham.

Attractions included a beer tent, traditional games of chance, stalls and craft demonstrations, with a puppet show and fairground rides to keep the younger visitors amused.

Assistant town clerk Barry Wardle said: "It was the best canal festival ever.

"We were so lucky with the weather, it was an absolutely perfect day and we hope everyone had as much fun as we did."

"It's not about making money, it's about celebrating the town and what a great place it is to live in.

"Certainly, everybody I spoke to said how much they enjoyed themselves". We're really pleased and the town council would like to thank everyone who helped make the day such a resounding success."
