Many brain cells were exercised when the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade held their annual Brain of Leighton quiz at Cedars Upper School.
This was the 12th year the quiz has been organised and, once again it was very enjoyable evening for all involved. A total of 27 teams from clubs, businesses and groups of friends from around the area, were all trying to attain the ‘Brain of Leighton Linslade’ title by answering 10 rounds of gruelling questions including a marathon round.
The honour this year was kept in the Rotary family, as the team from Luton Someries scored a magnificent 121 points out of a maximum of 125 to be awarded the Stuart Fletcher Cup (named after one of the club’s founding members).
One of the other cups to be presented on the evening were the Best Business, that went to OMM 50/50 who have been supporting the quiz for a number of years.
The Group of Friends competition resulted in a tied result between Muskies & Friend and Scout About. After a coin-toss, the cup went to Scout About.
Heath & Reach WI was presented with the Club Cup.
The quiz is one of the Rotary club’s more successful events and a profit of more than £1,000 was raised this year, which will go to president Ian Stevens’ chosen charities – SSAFA & CHUMS.
The next fundraising event that the club will be involved with will be to bring Santa Claus back to Leighton Buzzard.
He should be at the Christmas Light switch-on at the end of November in the High Street and then will be touring the streets of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade.
