There’s an exciting summer ahead in Leighton-Linslade with a number of free community events organised by the town council.

First up is this Sunday (June 1) when the town hosts its second National Big Lunch event in the High Street between 11am and 4pm.

Visitors will be welcomed to a Wild West experience with an array of country music, bronco and swing boats rides, fun casinos, photobooths and cowboy entertainment.

There will be lots to see and do with free activities to get involved in including the cowboy corner, arts and crafts, face painting, Wild West games stalls.

Have a go on the wild west ferret racing and the instructed barn and line dancing at the Market Cross. Pecan Pete will be joining in, with his famous lassoing show and a kids workshop.

When you fancy kicking the cowboy boots off you will enjoy many of the delightful food units available including the English Tea Ranch, Wokabout noodles, Paella, hogroast, fish and chips, BBQ Thai and Caribbean food and much more, all which will be available at the lower High Street. You won’t be able to miss it with the giant megasol seating area available for 400 people.

If this sounds all very energetic don’t worry, the following week you can sit on a deckchair and put your feet up and enjoy a day at the beach.

From June 7 to September 7, Parsons Close Recreation Ground will have a sandy feel to it (beside the Splash and Play).

The official opening of the beach takes place on June 7 from 11am to 4pm and it’s then open daily thereafter from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Come and meet the beach attendants at the beach party and enjoy the talent contest, punch and judy, aqua boats, giant games, soft play, face painting and all the other fun planned activities.

If you would like further information regarding either event contact the town council on 01525 631920.
