Woman in her 80s dies from injuries in Stanbridge collision

A pensioner has died following a collision in Stanbridge yesterday afternoon.

The woman, who was in her 80s, suffered life threatening injuries when a Kia Sorento was in collision with the car she was driving on Leighton Road at 4.45pm.

The victim had to be cut from her Nissan Micra by Beds Fire and Rescue Service before she was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital where she died on arrival.

It is believed that the Kia Sorento was travelling from Leighton Road into Billington Road just past Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club, when the Nissan Micra emerged from Leighton Road and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Kia Sorento did not suffer any injuries.

PC Helen Carpenter from the Roads Policing Unit is investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened.
