Young dancers crack auditions for Waterside Theatre opener

Cream of the Aylesbury Vale's rising ballet stars to appear with English Youth Ballet.

MORE than 200 local dancers were put through their paces to win a coveted place on the stage of the Waterside Theatre's opening season performance of The Nutcracker.

They were put through their paces during a day of auditions organised by producers, the English Youth Ballet, with 100 children making the final cut.

Performers aged between 8 – 18yrs were invited to take a class with Janet Lewis MBE who has enjoyed a distinguished career with the Royal Ballet and London Festival Ballet alongside greats such as Dame Margot Fonteyne and will be directing the show.

Miss Lewis said "I've been delighted with the great turn out and the standard of all of the dancers who came along. I know that together we will put on a marvellous and magical production. We feel very privileged to be invited to come to Aylesbury as part of the new theatre's first season and are looking forward to seeing everyone there in November"

The Nutcracker runs on Nov 5 & 6.
