A YOUNG physics student at Cedars Upper School could be representing Britain in an international competition in Mexico nest year.
Five sixth-formers from Cedars entered the first round of the British Physics Olympiad competition last week and all gave an outstanding performance in this very challenging external examination.
Thomas Corfield, Graham Cornish, Richard Hall, Jack Harman and Thomas Law study physics at A level and Richard Hall gave such a good performance that he will now be entered for the second round of the British Physics Olympiad on November 7. If Richard succeeds in the next examination he will be selected, along with four other British competitors, to represent GB in the International Physics Olympiad next July.
Physics teacher Dr Miller said: “Richard has an outstanding talent in physics and mathematics and is a serious candidate in this competition. I wish him much success in his endeavours”.
The British Physics Olympiad is run every year by Dr Miller at Cedars and the school has had previous successes. In 2002, Andrew Simons represented Britain in the International Olympiad in Korea and was awarded a silver medal.
