Buckingham Town 0, Leighton Town 1
A GOAL from James McNulty sealed victory for Leighton Town when they took on Buckingham Town in the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup Final on Thursday.
Playing their second cup final in four days, Leighton were deserving winners – despite going into the match missing Liam Howley, Bruce Wilson, Craig Kench and Lance Gentle-King from the starting line-up after picking up injuries in Monday's 3-1 defeat by Stotfold in the Beds Senior Cup Final at Luton Town.
Leighton played the better football throughout and goalkeeper Nigel Maarman had only one save to make.
The winner came just before half time. Andy Fagan found Ben Gallant with a perfect cross from the right, Gallant's header was partially saved and McNulty was on hand to smash home the rebound.
Buckingham rallied at the start of the second half but Chapman and Clifford held firm for Leighton.
Thomas and Gallant were excellent in midfield and Old had a good game at the back.
Efforts from Gallant and Silvestri went just wide as Leighton ran out winners.
Team: Maarman, Fagan, Copson, Chapman, Clifford, McNulty, Thomas, Silvestri, Gallant, Old, Cashman. Subs: Hassan, Howley, Wilson, Bell.
Leighton U18s also appear in a cup final on Monday when they take on St Margaretsbury U18s in the Colwyn Minor Cup Final at Dunstable FC, kick-off 7.45pm.
