LINSLADE Crusaders headed to Amersham in buoyant mood for this junior novice gala.

Sea Byrds stole an early lead which they held on to throughout by bagging lots of first places. Crusaders and Amersham spent the evening jockeying for second place and ended up joint second on equal points ahead of Chalfont Otters, Henley and Aylesbury.

The gala gave a chance for Ellie Woolhead and Mason Coleman to make their debuts for the club in the U/10 events and there were plenty of PBs including Lillie Molyneaux (6), Tom Henderson (5), Anna Henderson (4), Michael Witham (3), Tim Dryburgh (2), Daisy Jennings, Emma Game, Finnley Whitbread, Heloise Lee, Ellie Woolhead, Victoria Webb, Mason Coleman, Chloe Partridge, Billy Woolhead, David Witham and Peter Ulyett.

First places went to Nick Kent, Billy Woolhead, Mason Coleman, Michael Witham (U/10, 4 x 1 Special Medley Relay), Lillie Molyneaux, Daisy Jennings, Heloise Lee, Emma Game (U/12, 4 x 1 Medley relay and 4 x 1 Freestyle relay), Tim Dryburgh, Peter Ulyett, Tom Henderson, David Witham (U/12, 4 x 1 Medley relay), Victoria Webb, Anna Henderson, Lillie Molyneaux, Finnley Whitbread (U/11, 4 x 1 Medley Relay and 4 x 1 Freestyle Relay), Heloise Lee (U/12 2L Backstroke), Anna Henderson (U/11 2L Freestyle), Tom Henderson (U/12 2L Breaststroke).

Team Manager Karen Boud said: "There were some fantastic swims from the team but I would particularly like to mention Lillie Molyneaux, Tom Henderson, Emma Game and Daisy Jennings who achieved PBs in all their events. Due to some swimmers not being available, Lillie had to swim in all the U/12 and U/11 relays and Tom swam in two individual events and three relays. I am really proud of all the swimmers".

Crusaders swimmer Alex Brown, age 11, made his debut for Bedfordshire in the Kingerlee Trophy Gala at Stantonbury on Sunday. Teams competing were Bedfordshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire & North Bucks and Alex was selected to swim in four events: 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 4 x 50m Medley Relay and 4 x 50m Freestyle relay.
