From the dug-out

IT is hard to put into words the disappointment we all felt following Monday's defeat in the Beds Senior Cup Final.
In short we did not perform anywhere near our best and, as a result, lost to a very physical and at times cynical Stotfold team, who demonstrated why they have had so much success this season.
We struggled in the opening exchanges and conceded a freak goal which had me thinking, even at this point, that it was not going to be our night.
How right I was, as we galvanised ourselves and controlled much of the rest of the half only to see chance after chance squandered.
Defensively we were never comfortable and on the stroke of half-time we gifted Stotfold a second.
It was always going to be an uphill battle after this and despite again dominating the play, Stotfold eventually hit us on the break forcing a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area from which they scored a crucial third. Although Pete Clifford pulled a goal back and Brad Gilham made some excellent saves as we besieged the Stotfold goal, it was not to be.
The irony of our performance was that although we were not at our best defensively, (our strength this season), we created enough good chances to win the game.
We must now pick ourselves up for Thursday's final against Buckingham Town and make sure we do not under perform again.
My thanks on behalf of the club for the excellent support we received at Luton on Monday. My apologies for not providing you with the result we all hoped for!
My best wishes to all - Sean Downey, Leighton Town manager.
