Copson cracker beats Marlow
Marlow 0, Leighton Town 1
A cracking goal from Jack Copson livened up a dull encounter at Marlow on Bank Holiday Monday – and pushed Leighton Town into eighth place in the table with seven points from their first four games.

Marlow should have taken an early lead when Isaac headed over after breaking clear in the Town penalty area.

Ben Gallant responded by going close before the lively Isaac brought a good save from Lee Clark in the Town goal.

Town missed a glorious chance when, after a good move from Leon Cashman and James Hatch, the ball fell to Leon Gordon who shot over an open goal.

Cashman was also involved in a neat move with Enzo Silvestri and Gordon which saw Hatch go close to scoring at the far post.

At the start of the second half Silvestri shot just over while Elsegood headed wide from a Marlow corner.

Hatch and Gallant had efforts saved as Town raised the tempo, and the match winner finally arrived on 68 minutes when Hatch was fouled on the edge of the box.

A well-planned free kick between James Lasbrey and Copson saw Copson crack the ball round the defensive wall to give Town the lead.

This Saturday Town turn their attention to the FA Cup when they visit Tilbury for a preliminary round tie. For details of coach travel, contact the club.

Team: Clark, Lasbrey, Copson, Lanham, Clifford, Howley, Gordon (Thomas), Silvestri, Gallant, Hatch, Cashman. Subs not used: Beckwith, Chapman, O'Grady.

>> Last Saturday Leighton shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Bromsgrove Rovers at Bell Close.

A goal from Ben Gallant just before half time put Town in front but Bromsgrove looked a different side in the second half, snatching an equaliser through Birley with 18 minutes to go after Leighton had failed to clear their lines.

>> A depleted Leighton reserves went down 5-1 at Camberley on Saturday but bounced back on Tuesday with a 7-1 win at Newport Pagnell.

Fennemore led the way with a hat-trick, backed up by two from McNulty and one each from O'Grady and Denton.

This Saturday they are at home to Bracknell.
