LEIGHTON Buzzard Athletics Club entered two teams in the annual Round Milton Keynes Relay Race on Sunday.

The race – a handicapped event – is over multi-terrain with legs varying from 9 to 16km.

Teams consist of four members, one of which must be female. Competitors are handicapped based on age and gender, with the slowest team starting first.

Leighton's teams were aptly named Flack's Fellas and Upton's Boys. The eventual winners of the race, based on the age/gender adjusted times, were Pearson's Plodders, with Flack's Fellas coming 4th and Upton's Boys finishing 6th.

Although both LBAC teams failed to secure a medal position in the handicapped event, they had more success with the actual finishing time, with Flack's Fellas winning the prize for finishing the 50km course in the fastest time (3:50:22) whilst Upton's Boys secured second place in a time of 3:54:02, beating the third place team by only 45 seconds.

Flack's Fellas were Fred Watt, Louise Flack, Simon Coombes and Charlie Thompson and Upton's Boys were Tom Inchley, Alex Upton, Nick Clay and Tim Inchley.
