Big freeze threatens games again
Artic conditions mean most sporting action in Leighton Buzzard is likely to postponed once again this weekend.
Leighton Town are scheduled to play a home match with Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday – the side Sean Downey's men faced in their last match way back on December 14.
In that game Reds came unstuck 3-2 and since then matches against Soham, Barton Rovers and Aylesbury United have been lost to the weather.
Leighton's 'away' game with Aylesbury on Saturday was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Bell Close.
That meant Sean Downey's mid-table men missed a great chance to kick off the 2010 with a win as their opponents are rooted to the foot of the Zamaretto League Division One Midlands with just five points from 20 games.
Town are 14th in the table with 24 points from 17 games.
The reserve team was scheduled to be away to Chesham United in the Suburban League, but that game was also off due to a frozen pitch.
Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club were also beaten by the weather at the weekend.
The first team was due to play Syston in a re-arranged league match when the call came through that the game was cancelled for the second time due to a frozen pitch.
They're scheduled to play at home to Derby on Saturday.
