Corinthians Tigers win the league

Leighton Corinthians Tigers U15 0

New City Saints 0

Tigers ended their season as Division 3 Champions in the Milton Keynes and District Youth League after a brilliant campaign that saw them lose just once and drop only nine points altogether.

The result of this match was academic with a five point lead at the top, but both teams strived for a win in a competitive match.

Saints threatened first with a goal bound effort that Jordan Lapworth, the Tigers' keeper did well to palm away. Subsequently, Tigers exerted themselves with Billy Pantling and Sam Benson winning the ball in midfield and looking to set up chances. Justin Baker went closest when his lob cleared the Saints' keeper but also the crossbar and Matthew Ferguson had a shot turned agonisingly wide. Defensively, Tigers were in control, MOM Aaron Turney, Thomas Knight, Chris Lawford and Jordan Turner all performing well as they have done all season.

A frustrating second half developed where Tigers attacking efforts were snuffed out by solid Saints defending, Jack Harris having the pick of the chances when his well struck volley was tipped over. Luke Partridge delivered a superb cross that Morgan O'Connell and Felix Long couldn't quite get on the end of while Saints were limited to long range shots that finished off target.

Honourable mentions in a season where everybody contributed for Tigers also go to Rhys Richards, Chris Halpin, Conor Goodger and Adrian Nicholson, not forgetting manager, Jason Lapworth. Congratulations Tigers! Previous results - Moretonville Rovers 0 Tigers 2, Silverstone 1 Tigers 1, Tigers 3 Cranfield 0, Tigers 3 Bedford Park Rangers 1.
