Leighton Town U9 1

Great Linford Cougars 0

The first game of the New Year for Town U9 was played against a Great Linford side who they lost 6-0 last year.

Early pressure from The Cougars met with good defending from the defensive trio of Tyas, Johnson and Hickman.

Pickering, returning as goalkeeper, looked comfortable when dealing with anything coming his way. Leighton showed some good football in fast breaks from Churchill and Andrews who made a great run down the left and was unlucky to see his shot go wide.

The second half began without a keeper in the Leighton goal as manager Churchill had Pickering and Hickman swapping shirts on the side lines!

A fantastic run up the left wing by Judd and a cross off his wrong foot found Stevens who pounced for a Leighton goal.

Both sides played some good football in this competitive and entertaining game which saw Leighton edging the second half and hanging on for a narrow win. The performance was typified by Judd who had a great game in midfield and was voted MOM.
