Under The Floodlights . . . .

Leighton United C U8

v Leighton Town U8

Team: Jazz Chaulia, Kio Kennet-Ratcliffe, Dominik Bagot, Jack Sugars, Joshua Partridge, Harry Hyland, Albie Whittemore, Nicholas Smith and Harvey Hollins.

For the second week in a row Town started the brighter with Hyland catching the United defence unaware and slotting home a cross within the third minute.

The lead was doubled shortly after by Whittemore, and a third quickly after by Partridge, but United did not sit back and came back at Town scoring two before the break.

United started the second half better and got their just rewards with a equaliser.

Again Town restored the lead through Ratcliffe-Kennett, once again United scored putting the ball past the outstanding Chaulia.

The game kept went backwards and forwards, but it was Town who finally scored the final goal through Hollins. CB Motorcycles MOM: Jazz Chaulia.

Heelands Rangers U9 1

Leighton Town U9 4

Leighton Town continued their run of good form with a spirited away performance at Heelands Rangers.

Stevens pounced on long kick by keeper Pickering and was unlucky not to score when his shot drifted across the goal. Soon afterwards Town went behind to a ferocious shot, but responded by pushing forward and forcing a corner.

They drew level when Tyas smashed in a long range shot from the clearance. Judd tackling tenaciously in midfield and Hickman playing a sweeping role worked hard to deny Heelands' attacking opportunities.

Town almost scored from two well struck corners delivered by Hickman. A Dribble into the Heelands' penalty area by Johnson ended with Stevens finishing for Town to go in at halftime 2-1 up.

Andrews and Abbott on after the break, combined well upfront with some good passing and movement, McDiarmid showed determination in midfield. Town's two second half goals came from set piece plays, first a free kick, then a corner taken by Johnson.

But the star of the second half was Pickering who was unanimously voted MOM for his commanding performance and string of class saves.
