Leighton United U12s win Beds Cup final

Under the floodlights this week . . . .

Leighton United U12 A 8

Bedford Town 7

3-3 after extra time, Leighton won 5 -4 won penalties

The final of the County Cup and Leighton were absolutely outstanding in all areas. Bedford started strong and soon took an early lead.

United dogged and full of passion, then asserted themselves and dominated play. Jake, absolutely brilliant, won every battle while Harry and Jona drove a wedge between the Bedford midfield. United dominated as the half closed, and Luke always troubling the defence, equalised with a low driven left foot shot.

The second half underway and Leighton punished Bedford early with a great shot into the top corner from Jarred. Bedford chasing the game pinned United back and forced an equaliser, as the final whistle blew.

Extra time and Leighton`s passion to win was abundant. Bedford cracking under the pressure, led to a United free kick and Liam sent a blistering ball into the heart of Bedford`s area. The rebound fell to Jona whose 30 yard strike could only be watched by the keeper.

Leighton`s lead again stopped, as a harsh penalty was given and all equal again with penalties going to decide the fate of the teams. All square after five penalties and sudden death, Charlie Cooper made a fantastic save for united, which left Jake to win the game and win he did as the Leighton crowd exploded.

It's hard to mention all players but all players were undeniably brilliant and also a big thanks to Don and Tom who made this win possible.
