Linslade Greenleas Athletico in seven goal win
Pitches would have suited Dancing on Ice contestants!
LEIGHTON TOWNLeighton Town
Leighton Corinthians
A flying start from Corinthians saw Calum Elliot putting three away in the first quarter, Joshua Lowe made two or three good saves in very wet and long ground conditions to keep the sheet clean.
Next quarter saw Town putting on equal pressure after a team talk and some changes to perk them up. They were keeping battling Billy Lawrence and Dillon Walker busy and forced three more saves from the Corinthians keeper before finally getting a reward.
The second half saw Corinthians back in the driving seat with two more goals for Calum Elliot. Some great efforts from Albert Reed and good play from Hayden Jones and Reece Pinder.
Joshua Lowe was also increasingly called upon and saved all but one of Town's efforts to earn himself a third MoM award this season.
More goals from Albert Read and Reece Pinder – with a great cartwheel goal celebration –made sure Corinthians stayed well ahead all the way to the final whistle despite several injuries being picked up in all positions.
Team: MoM Joshua Lowe, Dillon Walker, Billy Lawrence, Reece Pinder, Hayden Jones, Albert Reed, Calum Elliot.
Leighton Town Reds U8
Stevenage Borough U8
ON a pitch that would have suited Dancing On Ice contestants, both teams played some good football. Borough came out with a bang and were two up in five minutes. Town responded with Archie strong at the back and Sam chasing everything. Sam played in Edward who was unlucky with his shot. Nathan was having a solid game and great passing from Nathan, Sam and Charlie saw Reds go close. Borough then increased their lead but Freddie was rock solid again at the back repelling Borough's attacks.
Josh made a good save but a further brace left Reds with an uphill task. Henry's shot was brilliantly turned round the post by borough's keeper to give Reds hope at half time.
In the second half another brace from borough killed the game off. Leo was on and made two great goal line clearances.
Louis was giving everything and nearly broke through but could apply a finishing touch each time. Another three goals from borough gave a flattering scoreline as Reds deserved some reward for their endeavour. Unlucky lads, but credit to Stevenage who played some great passing football.
Clapham Colts 4
Leighton Town Spartans U12 2
ANOTHER day, another game with a heavily depleted squad due to illness. However, the team were prepared to brave the icy conditions and put on a show.
Unfortunately this was quickly undone when after 15 minutes we conceded two consecutive soft goals.
A fight back before half time produced some fine football when Boniface provided Whitby with a fine pass enabling him to slot it past the home team keeper putting us back in the game.
After the break Leighton pressed forward and was hit on the counter attack and put on the back foot again when Clapham were able to score two more goals.
Leighton began stringing together more passes through the midfield and again Boniface provided the cross for Leighton's second goal, this time hit home by Patterson.
Late in the game Clapham were awarded a penalty and goalkeeper Bassett, back after a lengthy injury, showed his class with a top drawer save.
The team were unlucky not to get something from the game, but hopefully we can shake off our illnesses and start winning again! Good battling from Bassett, Boniface, Cox, Farrugia, Franklin, Koch, Patterson, Sanderson, Sutton, Vine, Wavish, Whitby.
Leighton Town U15 2
LutonBorough B 2
Opening exchanges were played at a frantic pace with neither side able to carve a clear opening.
As the half progressed Leighton took control of the game with Alfie Ruston distributing cleverly and Jordan Potter making foraging runsdown the wing. In defence Callum Boskett, Liam Edwards, Lee Adams and keeper Matt Fisher were rarely troubled. At the other end Danny O'Donnell and Kenny Doyle made several probing runs into the opposition area.
Leighton took the lead on the stroke of half-time with Tom Coleman expertly volleying home Tom Gordon's well flighted free-kick. Luton struck back immediately after the re-start following indecision in the Leighton rearguard. Leighton continued to play the more attractive football with subs Luke Binding and Tighe Campbell injecting energy into the proceedings. The returning Dominic Cooper brought composure to the back line. However, against the run of play Luton took the lead with a speculative long-range effort.
Leighton stormed back with the combative Charlie Green shooting just wide and Edwards heading narrowly over on a couple of occasions. In stoppage time Leighton grabbed a deserved equaliser with yet another trademark set-piece as Boskett powerfully headed home Gordon's corner.
WOODSIDE
Pitstone and Ivinghoe Pumas 5
Woodside Rovers U10 1
BOTH teams started the game brightly with chances at both ends. Defenders Ben Crallan and Sam Cook, as ever, were working hard in defence to keep the lively Pitstone attackers out. It was Rovers who scored first, Luke Williams made a powerful run down the left wing and produced a defence splitting cross which found both Owen Claridge and Joseph Raymen unmarked in the box. The Pitstone keeper made two great saves before Owen managed to blast the ball past him. The Pumas reply was instant, straight from the kick off and without Rovers touching the ball it was all square.
The second half was just as open and free flowing. Mason Coleman was on superb form in midfield jinking and tricking his way past the Pitstone players but Woodside just couldn't get the ball in the net. Front men Jay Stephenson and Blake Lewis both tried their hardest but the Pitstone defence held firm.
Pumas didn't have the same problem finding the net and despite great efforts by keeper Noah Heath they scored four more times.
Bletchley Youth 5
Woodside U12 1
IT was impossible to tell who was top and who was bottom as Woodside matched Bletchley in every department in a competitive first half. The defence of Isaac Claridge, Fionn Bell, Luke Boyes and Robbie James put in a disciplined performance playing simple, no nonsense football.
In midfield MoM James Harman ran, harried, tackled and disrupted his opponents whilst Robert Irons worked tirelessly to break up attacks.
Up front Tom Boozer put in a Rooneyesque performance and Kieren Fosberry gave his marker a torrid time but Woodies fell behind to a shot keeper George Fidczuk had covered until it took a deflection.
Woodies were fired up for the second-half only to be cruelly hit with two quick goals, but their heads did not drop.
Keigan Smith had a fine game running his full back ragged whilst Charlie Mead showed some sublime touches and got Woodies' goal following up after the keeper had spilled the ball. By then Woodies had conceded twice more and second-half keeper John Shaw made two smart saves to keep the score down.
Woodside Rovers U12 1
City Colts Ospreys 4
WOODIES took the game to City right from the first whistle. Both teams adapted to the conditions well and it was Woodies who had the first clear cut opportunity which Tom Boozer was unable to convert. Woodies' game plan of unsettling the opposition by denying them time and space worked well with captain James Harman, Dominic Lombino and Isaac Claridge making all the tackles in midfield and ably supported by Kieren Fosberry, Oscar Russell and Keigan Smith who terrorised his full back all morning. Nevertheless it was City who took the lead against the run of play. That apart, first-half keeper George Fidczuk was untroubled.
Woodies continued where they had left off from the restart and were rewarded when MoM Charlie Mead deservedly equalised. Their dominance continued but further chances were squandered.
In defence Lewis Pascoe, Fionn Bell, Luke Boyes, Robert Irons and second-half keeper John Shaw were resolute in the way they repelled City attacks.
With eight minutes remaining Woodies conceded a scrambled goal which was followed by two further strikes that flattered City.
Great Horwood 5
Woodside Wanderers U15 4
THIS was not a vintage performance by Woodside but it did demonstrate that if the team focus and work hard they can still turn their season round. The first half was pitiful with the home team cruising to a 4-0 lead. The second half saw a more determined effort with Woodside fighting and challenging for possession and creating chances which this time were converted. Two goals were pulled back before Gt Horwood took their fifth against the run of play.
Despite this Woodside still took the game to the opposition and clawed back two more. Dubious time keeping cut the match short as Woodside looked on course to claim a draw. Some fine individual performances notably from MoM Pat Bell, Mark Mitchell (four goals), Eddie Jackson, Michael Johnson, Daniel Blythe and Luke Taylor.
If the team can use this second half display as a springboard towards improved performance the season can end on a high. Squad: Robin Corston, Matt Forbes, Mitchell O'Connor, Sam Hurley, Dan Blythe, Gavin Russell, Luke Rhodes, Mark Mitchell, Tom Holloway, Luke Taylor, Gary Wells, Eddie Jackson, Michael Johnson, Shane Tiffen and Pat Bell.
Woodside Rovers U15 2
Great Linford Rockets U15 3
ANOTHER disappointing and unlucky defeat for Rovers at the hands of Great Linford Rockets now leaves them third from bottom.
Rockets started the game at an electrifying pace and a shell-shocked Rovers team found themselves 3-0 down inside half an hour. The midfield four of Jones, Stiles, O'Donoghue and Robertson fought hard and some resilient defending from Greany, O'Hara, Arscott-Smith and Callaghan, stopping Rockets from increasing their lead to four before the half.
Again Rovers looked a different team in the second half and forced an early attack with Ryan and Jell passing well.
The game was turned completely around when the midfield, including Jell, took control of the game. Following a well earned corner, Jones crossed an inch perfect ball and Stiles was at hand to head home a powerful goal.
This gave Rovers more confidence and the some fluent play from Callaghan, Edmunds, Stiles and McGarvey led to a shot which flashed just wide of the goal. With ten minutes left to play O'Donoghue battled hard in the penalty area and eventually found an opening which he scored from well.
It was a tense finish but Rovers couldn't grab a point and Rockets took all three. MoM: Jell.
LEIGHTON UNITED
Leighton United Girls U10 1
Eaton Bray Lions 2
COMPLETE domination of the first half of this game saw United put 16 shots on goal but score nothing, mostly due to some excellent goalkeeping.
Alisa Chapman broke away and passed to Lizzie Richardson who shot wide. Jasmine Page dribbled through the defence, but saw her shot pushed away for a corner.
Rachel Moffat continually won possession and saw several shots saved, with one hitting the post.
Lucie Webster covered well at the back and restricted Lions to a single shot in the first half for Charlotte Mulford to save. 0-0 at half time was an incredible scoreline!
Early in the second half, Chapman shot just wide. A great move started by Savannah Shepherd winning a tackle, passing to Charley Lambert who skilfully slipped a pass down the line to Richardson to blast home for a 1-0 lead. Lions came back strongly and put the United goal under pressure, eventually equalising direct from a corner.
Jade Linders had to work hard at the back to keep the Lions out. Richardson hit the post late on and in the last minute Lions scored from point blank range to steal a win. PoM was Lucie Webster.
WING RAIDERS
Wing Raiders Pumas U15 4
Olney Town 3
OLNEY came to Wing with an unbeaten record and a competitive match ensued. Raiders were soon 1-0 down and although Ryan West chased everything and Ben Smith went close it wasn't until the 30th minute that Wing equalised. Sam Arnold's mazy run down the right and great cross to the post saw Tom North head home.
Raiders found themselves behind just after the restart and minutes later were 3-1 down. Tom North gave Wing a lifeline after good work by Ross Elliot and Ed Humphries when his shot through a crowded box hit the net.
Wing's defence Scott Parramore, Tristan Higgs, Jack Edwards and Harry Green were working overtime to keep Olney's attack quiet. Raider's keeper Ian Lawson made a penalty save to keep the match alive for Wing and their fitness was the key yet again in the final 10 minutes of the game when Lewis Henley's corner was headed onto the cross bar by Tristan Higgs and North volleyed home for the equaliser and his hat trick.
In the dying seconds the ball broke to Higgs whose 40 yard shot was spilled by the Olney keeper into the path of North who stabbed home the winner.
HEATH PANTHERS
Heath Panthers U11 Kittens 3
AFC Kempston Colts Sapphires 1
ON a cold and sunny morning, the Kittens travelled to Kempston Colts Sapphires.
Eleven minutes into the game Lily Norton made a screaming welcome back by hitting the back of the net. This was followed by Charlie Kaye with a good strike outside the halfway line into the back of the net.
Kempston came back putting one in making the score 2-1 at half time.
There was good work at the back from Samantha Davis, Chantelle Perry and Chloe Birnie. There were good runs in the middle from Chloe Pinder.
Danielle Kaye came close to scoring on more than one occasion and was still setting them up for Lily Norton score again.
Toni Kaye did well with some long kicks keeping the ball in Kempston half. Well done girls. Keep it up! PoM Samantha Davis.
SOUTHCOTT OWLS
Southcott Owls U11 0
Raynsford U11 3
THE final score may not tell the whole story of this match but well played to Raynsford who have now put seven goals past Southcott without reply so they are definitely the league's form team.
Southcott started well enough with good individual contributions from all but collectively they could not recreate the passion and determination of last week's outstanding derby.
On top form McGarry, Prophet, Bagatti and Adam Stacey would have converted their chances, Turley would have closed down the number eleven and blocked the goals and the defence would not have missed key tackles but it justdid not happen.
LINSLADE GREENLEAS
Olney Sharks 0
Linslade Greenleas Athletico U9 7
AN away journey to Northamptonshire saw Athletico take the spoils in a match fought more tightly than the scoreline might suggest.
Olney came at Athletico from the start and it took the first quarter before they reached their stride. An early brave save from Captain and Dillamores MoM Axford helped to steady Athletico nerves, before pushing back through midfield to see Liggett take the first of three typically poached goals before half-time.
The second-half saw the team gel into a better unit, with strong running on the left wing from Culley who took two well struck goals.
Liggett added his fourth and a typically long-range effort from Williams ensured another dominant scoreline for Athletico. Kharawala showed his versatility around the park and Dimeo had to fight hard for possession in midfield throughout the game against a good Olney team.
The day, however, required a sterling performance from an under-the-weather Potter in defence, aided by a more measured performance from Cantwell who took the opportunity and time to keep the ball at his feet and play up the field but, despite the best efforts of the opposition, Athletico kept a clean sheet for the third time this season and maintained their 100 per cent record.
