Craddock: Buckle was best man to lead Town’s play-off charge
Tom Craddock celebrates Luton's JPT success in 2009
FORMER Town striker Tom Craddock always felt that Paul Buckle would be the right choice to hopefully lead Luton Town back into the Football League, writes Mike Simmonds.
Craddock, who netted 38 goals in 86 games for the Hatters before moving to Oxford United, came up against Torquay United in League Two last season, where Buckle was in charge, and was left with a lasting impression.
He said: “I played against his team twice last season in the league and Torquay were a very good team. When he took over, I knew he’d get Luton playing well because they (Torquay) got to the play-offs last season.
“Torquay was a very tough place to go and a very good side, so I was quite pleased when he came to Luton as I knew they’d do well.
“Brabs (former boss Gary Brabin) did a good job signing a lot of good players, but it’s been quite a nice transition in the seven or eight games, it has turned out really well.”
