Willmott left out by England C to focus on play-offs

WINGER Robbie Willmott was left out of the England C squad to face Russia this summer so he could focus on Luton Town’s play-off campaign, writes Mark Wood.

Three Lions boss Paul Fairclough announced his 18-man squad recently and revealed that Town’s creative midfielder Adam Watkins would also have been part of it had he not been unavailable.

He said: “It was touch and go with Robbie Willmott whether we were going to include him in the squad.

“We let him concentrate on the job he has got in hand with Luton.

“I didn’t want to select him for the England team and distract him.”
