Last minute winner sends Oakley three points clear

AFC Oakley M&DH find themselves three points clear at the head of the Premier Division supported by Sportsform after they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Flitwick Town on Saturday.

Ritchie Bevan and Jim Lewis fired the Town two goals in front in their quest to extend their side’s unbeaten run to seven games. But M&DH staged a second half comeback, Rob Heaney and Elijah Hukin netting to square matters up before Dan Kelly headed home the 90th minute winner.

For second place Renhold United it was an end to their eight game winning run when beaten 2-0 at sixth place Marston Shelton Rovers who are now unbeaten in their last nine starts. Wes Burrows and Ben Lawrence scored first half goals to do the damage.

Whilst third place Wilstead moved to within a point of United with a 4-1 home win over Shefford Town & Campton to claim their seventh win on the bounce. Paul Jones with a brace was joined on the scoresheet by Alex Russell and Colin Marshall against a lone Town reply from Jamie Osborne.

Having lost their last two league outings, fifth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College returned to winning ways with a 3-0 home win over Pavenham. Ashley Windridge, Jake Duxbury and Colby Smith netted the vital goals.

Also returning to winning ways after three straight defeats were seventh place Cranfield United who won 4-0 at Sandy. Jordan Appleton fired them ahead in the 10th minute before Martin Holland doubled the scoreline eight minutes later and then went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half.

For the first time this season Caldecote made it three wins on the bounce with a 3-0 home success over bottom of the table Elstow Abbey. Sam Julian with a brace and Nick Thomas with a single strike did the damage.

Whilst at Woburn Road hosts Ampthill Town Reserves and their visitors Ickwell & Old Warden shared the spoils from a 1-1 draw, Conor Saunders netting for the Town and Ricky Aris replying for the visitors.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

Sundon Park Rangers’ title hopes were given a knock when they were held to a 2-2 draw at fourth place Meltis Albion, leaving them just a point clear at the head of the league from Stevington who have played two games fewer. Calum Stewart and Dan Taylor scored the Albion goals against Rangers replies via Matthew Conway and Laurence Mapp.

The biggest winners were Westoning who went nap with a 5-1 win at Potton Town to end the hosts’ five game unbeaten home run. Aaron Turner and Thomas Cooksley both scored twice and Taylor Clayton once against a lone Town reply from Sam King.

Whilst fifth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw at tenth place Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Sam Kelly was on the home scoresheet with Jesse Sidhu netting the reply.

The wait for their first home win of the season goes on for bottom of the table AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves who were held to a 1-1 draw by third from bottom of the table Riseley Sports. Chris Thorman for the home side, and Paul Brown for the visitors, netted the goals.

Centenary Cup Semi-final

Ickleford will now face Queens Park Crescents in this season’s final after winning 3-1 at Henlow. Romano Marabese, Lewis Littlechild and Giuseppe D’Angelo grabbed the goals against one in reply from Antony Bowskill.

Division Two

For second place Cranfield United Reserves, following three straight defeats it was a return to winning ways with a 4-0 victory at tenth place Kempston Athletic to draw within goal difference of league leaders Cople and Bedford SA. Daniel Mclaren shot them 1-0 ahead in the opening half before second period strikes from Adam Kerr, Nathan Evans and Luke Gray sealed the points.

However just two points behind them in third spot and with games in hand on the top two sides are Clapham Sports who made it nine wins on the bounce with an 8-0 home victory over Wootton Village. Glen Tumulty and Marko Tobzic with braces were joined on the scoresheet by Grant Williams, Neil Larman, Ryan Prior, and Liam Bolton.

For fourth place Flitwick Town Reserves it was the gift of three points after bottom of the table Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves failed to raise a side to host them.

Whilst sixth place Lea Sports PSG were held to a 1-1 home draw by eighth place Bedford United, Ryan Durrant netting for PSG and Simon Wade for United.

Division Three

Third place Wilstead Reserves ensured Wixams must wait at least another week before claiming the division three title after they ran out 3-2 home winners over second place Sundon Park Rovers to whom they are now within five points, having played three games fewer. Luke Pursey with a brace was joined on the scoresheet by Robert Booth against Rovers returns via Craig Barnes and Daniel Lonalonga.

Whilst down at the other end of the standings bottom side Clifton moved to within a point of Sandy Reserves with a 3-1 home win over them at Whiston Crescent. Charlie Watson scored twice and Dale Houghton once against a lone reply from Aaron Seldon.

Meantime Dinamo Flitwick returned to winning ways with a 4-1 home victory over Shefford Town & Campton A thanks to two goals from Dale Goldie and single strikes via Jamie Burton and Stuart Turner against one in reply from Tristan Potkins.

Division Four

For third place Caldecote A it was a big step towards this season’s silver medals with a 4-0 home victory over second place Bedford Albion who they now only trail by just a single point and having played two games fewer. James Whatmore, Oscar Smith, Harry Elkin and Jack Stagg grabbed the goals to take their unbeaten ways up to 10 games.

Elsewhere seventh place Flitwick Town A were gifted the three points after Westoning Reserves failed to raise a side to host them at Greenfield Road.

Watson Shield Quarter-Final

Bedfordshire Saturday Youth side Ampthill Town will now travel to Harvey Close to face Caldecote A at the last four stage after netting a 3-0 home win over Lidlington United Sports, Josh Hodgman with a brace and Harry Nelson once on target to do the damage.

Watson Shield Semi-Final

Awaiting the winners of the Caldecote A v Ampthill Town game in this season’s final showdown will be Renhold United Reserves who ran out 2-1 winners at AFC Dunton, Michael France and Justin Udman netting the vital goals against one in reply via Tony Norman.
