Charlotte takes it all in her stride
Three gold medals and counting for rower
Pictured right is Charlotte Cook from Stanbridge who is certainly making waves in the sport of rowing having just become the UK's best female in her age group - and she's got the gold medal to prove it.
The 17-year-old only took up rowing four years ago but is already no stranger to the big occasion having competed in both France and Belgium for her Bedford school team and the Great Britain Junior side, winning twice in Ghent, Belgium, while competing in quads.
But it was going solo at the National Schools Regatta in Nottingham where Charlotte showed what she was really made of, progressing through the qualifying round and the semi-final before going on to win gold, taking out the best the country has to offer in the process.
And for dad Richard - who was confidently watching at The National Water Sports Centre - it was the proudest moment of his life, and for Charlotte, the culimnation of years of hard work and personal sacrifice.
Richard explained: "She is so committed to rowing but I've got no idea where it comes from. She trains so hard, getting up at 5.30am a couple of times a week and also training after school - all while doing her A-Levels.
"Having seen all the work she puts into it I was actually really confident that she would win it."
Charlotte certainly took to rowing like a duck to water, but it was no surprise really considering she used to swim for the county and held the record time in Beds for the 100m breaststroke.
"I don't really know what she wants out of this in the long run, but for now she's just enjoying it and taking it in her stride," added Richard.
