Crusaders win the day
Town club are area swim champs
Linslade Crusaders Swimming Club secured another convincing victory in the second round of the Milton Keynes and District Junior League on Saturday.
The team finished with a massive 61-point lead after winning 27 first places – more than half the events in the contest - which featured five other teams from around the area.
The win follows the juniors' earlier success in round one of the league in Wellingborough last month, and gives them a good chance of a high place finish in the final round of the competition in the autumn.
Early wins in the first relays set the standard and the youngsters, all aged 9-12, kept up the winning streak right to a thrilling conclusion.
Team manager Debbie Jennings congratulated the swimmers, saying: "This 2010 Junior League is turning out to be very exciting for the club and all swimmers demonstrated great effort and skill.
"I'm very proud of everyone and now it's all about keeping up the momentum for the final round and hopefully gaining another win."
The win at the Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre has crowned a memorable season for Crusaders who also took home the Leighton Buzzard Trophy a week earlier. The team now takes a well deserved summer break before the new season begins in September.

In the individual events Leon Crick took two race wins for backstroke and freestyle, and the team event win was achieved by Leon, Harry Faulkner, Joel Morris and Jack Wears in the Boys 12/U freestyle relay.
New personal best times were achieved by Jemima Hughes, William Shaw, Kayleigh Parker, Lauren Wright, Kiera Rogers and Elise Crick.
In the final event, the 'cannon relay' - which involved eight swimmers from each squad - the LB side fought hard for glory but in a close race were just pushed into third place.
LB head coach, John Honey, said: "The swimmers who took part all did very well, but the end result was effected due to several key swimmers not being available on the day. In the circumstances, coming third was a good result."
