Leighton continue winning start
Warm-up wins for Town
Leighton Town's encouraging start to their programme of pre-season friendlies continued on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win at Tring Athletic.
Ben Gallant scored from the penalty spot to follow up his hat-trick at Welwyn Garden City on Saturday, and Leon Gordon also found the net.
Manager Sean Downey made many changes, trying out 16 players during the course of the game.
Last Saturday Town won 6-0 at Welwyn Garden City with Gallant hitting a first-half hat-trick.
Other scorers were James Hatch, Enzo Silvestri and Jack Copson who crashed home a shot from 30 yards.
This Saturday Town continue their friendlies with a trip to play on the Astroturf surface at Burnham.
Leighton start their new Southern League campaign on Saturday,
August 16, with a visit to Nuneaton.
The reserves, under Jon Reed, earned a deserved draw at Cranfield with Aiden Denton scoring their goal.
Apart from Steven Root and Simon Jackson, the majority of the side were under 18.
On Saturday the reserves are away to Crawley Green in another friendly.
At last week's AGM, Iain McGregor was elected for his 12th year as chairman.
