Linslade youngsters teach rivals a lesson

Joy at South Beds Schools finals

Linslade are the Year Six champions of South Bedfordshire schools after recording a 4-0 final win over Kings Houghton.

The boys produced a devastating performance to defeat a determined Kings Houghton side. Jonny Adams scored with an excellent effort to open the scoring and give Linslade a 1-0 half-time lead before they wrapped up the win in the second half.

Captain Cameron McJannett excelled as his side drove forward. Billy Woolhead extended the lead and a late siege resulted in further goals for both Adams and Woolhead.

There wasn't such good news in Year Seven though as Linslade lost a five-goal thriller to Ashton in their age group cup final.

In the most exciting game of the afternoon, Ashton dominated the first half and scored first through Jordan Edinburgh. But when Jake Hodges rose splendidly to head home the equaliser the sides were level again.

Ashton appeared to have settled the game with a two-goal flourish in the second half. Jack Capon fired home from long range and Elliot Mulford scored with a clever lob.

But Linslade's Paolo Bagatti inspired his team with some terrific solo runs and a Charlie Kent goal gave them hope.

Unfortunately his goal came a little too late for Linslade to force an equaliser and Ashton held on to take the title.
