Rugby juniors meet England legend

Boys tipped for the top

Two Leighton youngsters were tipped for future success by England legend, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, following a once in a lifetime exclusive rugby training session under the watchful eye of the former England captain.

Jack Cullen and William Knatchbull, both from Leighton, joined 100 fellow rugby players aged between six and 18 at Twickenham stadium, for the Sacla' National Training Day, courtesy of the Italian Pesto Pioneers, and having put the youngsters through their paces, the England great was impressed by what he saw.

Lawrence said: "The quality of rugby on display was fantastic and a testament to all the young rugby players who took part. Who knows, we may have unearthed some real stars for the future. I hope that I have been able to pass on some of the skills required to reach the very top of the game as well as the core values of rugby – including respect, enjoyment, discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. I was lucky enough to walk out at Twickenham a few times, and I'm sure all of the youngsters here today have enjoyed their experience – hopefully it might inspire them to aim for even better things in the future."

Jack Cullen, aged six, plays for Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club and was overjoyed at the experience: "It was such a surprise to get here and it has been great fun. I really enjoyed meeting Lawrence." He said.

William Knatchbull, aged 11, plays for Buckingham RFC. He said : "I had a really great day, the best bit was the coaching and meeting Lawrence Dallaglio."
