Let there be light at Leighton Buzzard R.F.C
LEIGHTON Buzzard Rugby Club have officially switched on their new floodlights, with guest Andrew Selous MP doing the honours.
The new lights have been three years in the making, and at a cost of over £100,000, they are a major investment in the future of rugby in the town.
Also attending the switch on ceremony were former RFU president Bob Taylor and RFU council member Keith Shurville.
The switch on, accompanied by music and fireworks, was followed by three junior games involving the U10s, U15s and U16s, all playing under the new lights.
The lights mean the club now have three out of four pitches floodlit, allowing for much greater space when training, especially on nights where many of the juniors and ladies players are in attendance.
With a total membership of over 500 and training taking place three nights a week in the winter months, the new facilities allow for better use of the pitches and means that every team has the space to practice without interference from the others.
