ACTION... it looks like Edlesborough has a new starring role on the big screen.
A new movie which used the village for location work was released on May 2.
Made Of Honour stars Grey's Anatomy heart-throb Patrick Dempsey, and acting veterans Sydney Pollack and Hannah Gordon. Leighton's towering actor Jeff Rudom also has a cameo.
And a sharp-eyed villager spotted the church on a film trailer for the new movie, so the footage didn't ended up on the cutting room floor.
It's a romantic comedy all about a man who's in love with an engaged woman, and who tries to win her over, after she asks him to be her maid of honour.
Last summer, the film crew visited Edlesborough for filming at the village's landmark St Mary's Church.
Actors were seen wearing kilts and finery at the church, for a wedding scene, and filming was also carried out at nearby Ashridge.
Edlesborough was a hive of activity after the film crew arrived.
At the time, Clare Petherbridge, of Edlesborough Village Stores, said: "We've had a lot of the crew coming in. Everyone is very nice, very friendly.
"I've certainly been keeping my eye out for Patrick Dempsey, but I haven't spotted him!"
Now villagers can feast their eyes on Patrick, aka Dr Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, in the movie - if they can find time while they're scanning the screen for Edlesborough scenes.
The church was closed for worship in 1974 and is now used only occasionally, for special services and events.
It was also used for location work for The Reckoning, a medieval thriller which starred Paul Bettany and Willem Dafoe.
Bettany played a 14th century priest caught up with a troupe of travelling actors, who set out to expose a serial killer.
In the early '80s, scenes from the comedy caper Boys In Blue, starring Cannon and Ball, were filmed outside the village shops.
The cast also included Eric Sykes, Jack Douglas, Roy Kinnear and Suzanne Danielle.
In recent weeks, Impossible Pictures have been filming in Ashridge, for scenes for TV's Primeval.
