STYLE Hair and Beauty in Wing certainly showed it was a cut above the rest when it raised hundreds of pounds for cancer charities.
Owner Tracey Passantino and her staff raised £857 by selling raffle tickets at the salon in High Street, Wing. First prize was £180 worth of treatments at the salon, which not only specialises in hairdressing, but also offers tanning booths, beauty and alternative therapies.

Second prize was a pair of bright pink GHD hair-straighteners. Other prizes were donated by companies.

Tracey said: "We have been shocked by the amount of clients that have had cancer, breast cancer in particular, and also staff and clients whose partners have had testicular cancer. So we thought we would raise money for both causes.

"Throughout June we have sold raffle tickets – everyone is touched by cancer at some point and we thought we could put something back."
Usually her 16 stylists wear black, but throughout the charity bonanza they have worn pink and blue T-shirts to raise awareness.

Last Saturday, Style's last client of the day, Sheila Law, received more than just her usual cut and blow dry when she was given the great honour of drawing the raffle winners.

And there are more celebrations to follow, as Style Hair and Beauty is also celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Tracey said: "I want to arrange a 'Big Bash' at the end of the year for all the staff to say thank you for all their hard work and ongoing commitment because without them there wouldn't be a business."

"The goal was to achieve a London-style salon, with beauty, in a village setting. We have extended five times and our staff numbers have trebled. We always knew it would work, and my brilliant team here know the goal and understand the vision. We never stop training and we never stop thinking about the future."
