A PITSTONE mum and 30 of her family and friends took part in the annual sponsored Butterfly Walk last Sunday and helped raise £15,500 for the Keech Cottage Children's Hospice
Carolyn Wright, took part in the walk in memory of her daughter, Zoë, who died aged four after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour.

As well as being supported by an NHS community nurse as Zoë’s condition rapidly worsened, the family also received support from Keech Cottage’s community nursing team and, since her death, have received bereavement care from the hospice.

Carolyn said: “I felt really proud that so many people turned out on the day and it made it a very special day for me to be wearing my T-shirt in Zoë’s memory.

“It was great to be supporting such a good cause. We all knew why we were there and it was so good that family and friends could do the walk together for Zoë.

“It meant the world to me to get such fantastic support.”

The Butterfly Walk is a 10-mile sponsored walking challenge, run in association with the Herts Sport Partnership, through some of West Hertfordshire’s finest countryside around the Tring area.

Hospice events fund-raiser, John Helm said: “This is the second year for our Butterfly Walk, an event which is proving popular with people of all ages.

“A big thank you to all who took part and helped to raise such a great amount for our children’s hospice.”
