Wing author Caroline Davies’ new book will be launched in Leighton Buzzard on October 19.
Convoy is a compelling narrative sequence of poems documenting the Merchant and Royal Navy’s convoys to supply the besieged Mediterranean island of Malta in the Second World War. The convoys, seeking to supply basics to the islanders in spite of a blockade, suffered severe losses at the hands of German and Italian forces.
The collection was inspired by the experiences of Caroline’s grandfather, James ‘Jim’ Honeybill, a merchant seaman who served in the convoys.
The launch at Barista, 14 Market Square, is free to attend, Caroline will be signing copies of Convoy and reading a selection of poems.
