World of books comes to Bedfordshire school

The event at Redborne Upper School takes place on Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17.

The first day is devoted to British crime writers, Mark Billingham, Martyn Waites, Chris Brookmyre, R.C. Bridgestock (consultants on BBC’s Happy Valley), female duo A.D. Garrett and Hugh Fraser (Agatha Christie’s Poirot).

Saturday evening is devoted to comedy writing, with the great Barry Cryer who has for 50 years written material for practically every top comedian in the country including David Frost, Marty Feldman, Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper and the Two Ronnies.

Sunday features screenwriting, with panels of writers, directors, producers and actors for TV shows (Emmerdale and Coronation Street) and feature films from the UK and Hollywood.

Sunday closes with a session by the renowned actor, writer and director, Steven Berkoff.
