Leighton Buzzard is preparing to commemorate the anniversary of the First World War with an Armed Forces Day event on Sunday (June 22).
From 10am-5pm at Parson’s Close Recreation Ground the SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) will be holding an event full of activities to help support the Armed Forces.
It will include a police dog display, a marching drill by the ATC cadets, a bandstand performance by the RAF Halton Band, and children’s entertainment including bouncy castles, rodeo bull, and charity and craft stalls.
The Fun Day is being organised by SSAFA Bedfordshire with the support of Leighton-Linslade Town Council and Central Bedfordshire Together Partnership, together with other military charities.
A spokesman said: “The aim is to have an enjoyable day while fostering greater awareness and understanding between the Armed Forces and the local community, and to promote awareness of SSAFA and other charities that support Forces people and their families.”
