Telling the story of young London boy Kip, as he and his friends are evacuated to the countryside, the show follows the adventures and scrapes the ‘vackees’ get in to as they clash with the gang of local countryside children.

At the same time, the adults around them all struggle to come to terms with the effect of World War II, both in their own community, and within the nation.

The charity, which gives young people aged 9 to 19 the opportunity to perform two full musicals a year and is run entirely by volunteers, is hugely proud of the work the group have put in.

As always with Leighton Buzzard Youth Theatre productions, it promises to once again meet the high standards the cast and production team set for themselves.

As one fan noted, “The cast might be young, but there is nothing childish about the standard of show this group produces.”

The Vackees has something for all ages to enjoy, from light hearted humour, to tense encounters and poignant emotional moments. This is a delightful, award winning show is packed with great songs and charming characters which will bring a smile to your face and a lump to your throat.
