Two talented young people from Bedford are key players in a cutting-edge play coming to the Quarry Theatre as part of Bedfringe.
Matthew Gouldesbrough, 19, will direct the contemporary play Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco, written by Gary Owen. The cast will also include James Smith, who is currently an academic scholar in the sixth form at Bedford School.
There will be three performances of the play at the theatre in St Peter’s Street, Bedford, on July 27 at 3pm, July 28 at 9pm and July 29 at 7.30pm.
Since leaving Bedford Boys’ School , Matthew has completed a successful year training at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in London. He was also chosen to become a member of the National Youth Theatre, out of 4,800 18 to 25-year-olds who auditioned and has now been invited to become an ambassador for the organization.
In September, Matthew will continue his theatre training at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, in London, after recently being offered one of only 24 highly sought-after, places on their BA (Hons) Acting degree course.
