LEIGHTON
CORINTHIANS
Corinthians Tigers U14 1
Willen Junior Sharks 3
A thoroughly enjoyable match that saw Willen dominate first half play before a battling second half performance from Tigers almost snatched them a share of the points.

Tigers were slow out of the blocks and despite a decent effort from Morgan O'Connell, set up by Felix Long, that forced Willen's keeper into action, it was the Milton Keynes side that looked most likely to score.

A couple of excellent saves from Tigers' keeper Alex Eaton kept the score level until an absolute rocket of a shot from Willen gave them a 1-0 lead. Seconds later, an almost identical scenario followed, this time the shot crashing off the woodwork to be tucked away by an alert Willen striker for 2-0.

After the break, Tigers roused themselves, their midfield imposing themselves much more with Billy Pantling and Peter Wilmer working hard to win the ball and set up attacks. Tigers' defence was coping with the Willen threat, Conor Goodger, Tyron Foster and Chris Lawford all performing well at the back.

A fine strike got Tigers back into the game – Macauley Conway, who excelled once again, netting a beauty from 20 yards. Rhys Richards went close to the equaliser for Tigers and Lawford had his header blocked on the line before Willen secured the points with another well-taken goal right on the final whistle.

Southside United 1

Due to heavy rain, a pitch inspection was needed for this encounter to go ahead, and Corinthians will be happy that it was given the go-ahead.
Either team could have gone ahead in the opening 20 minutes on an increasingly boggy pitch, but most shots were right at the keeper for Leighton, until Jackson found the net with a tap in, which found the bottom corner... just.

1-0 at half time and Corinthians just about deserved the lead. Another goal was desperately needed and they found this in Ottaway, among the goals again, scoring two in quick succession, one being a well-struck penalty after winning it himself.

Jackson linked with Nash then found the top of the net for 4-0. Mitchinson and Jones hit the crossbar from long range and Morgan, Sear and Yee all saw their efforts go wide or miss hit.

Southside then equalised as the game became slow due to the conditions. But it was Jackson and Ottaway's day as they both completed their hat- tricks late on to ensure a comfortable victory.

With only 11 players available due to forced absences and controversial injuries, it was a good team performance which continues the unbeaten League record this season.

LEIGHTON TOWN
Leighton Town U9 7
Totternhoe Youth 1
IN this cup encounter, Town progressed through to the next round in style. In the first half, Town were half asleep and misplaced passes were aplenty. Totternhoe took advantage of this and went 1-0 up.

A great tip round the post from Isaac prevented further scoring and Town worked their way back into the game. A kick upfield from Isaac led to Jack lashing in the equaliser. With seconds remaining in the first half, Nathan nicked the ball off the keeper and put Town 2-1 up.

The second half was miles better, with Town awake and playing well. Alex and Bradlee were great at the back and David linking well to cause problems for Totternhoe.

George set off on a run and rifled home number three. Luke came on and was solid at the back again and Leyton was making searching runs on the left. Nathan then made it four with a great shot.

Jack came on to take a free kick from just inside Totternhoe's half which flew in. George got his second with an unstoppable shot. Callum was in no mood to concede any more goals. Jack then rounded off the scoring with a run and left-foot strike to complete his hat-trick. Leyton crashed a shot against the bar.

For good measure, a penalty given to Totternhoe was saved by Isaac (aka Gomes) and the transformation was complete. Well played boys and enjoy your Christmas. MoM Isaac, Jack and Luke.

Langford Youth 4
Leighton Town Spartans U12 3
DUE to illness, Leighton Town were only able to field 10 players – but what 10 players! For the first 10 minutes of the game, the stalwart defence of Farrugia, Franklin, Sutton and Wavish dealt with pressure from the home team.

Wavish in particular made an incredible tackle to stop an almost certain goal and soon after Farrugia cleared a ball from the goal-line.

With true end-to-end football, a looping cross from Whitby found its way to Patterson who chipped the keeper, putting us ahead. Minutes later, Franklin looked sure to score with a power drive from the centre circle but was denied by the keeper. However, caught on the break, Langford scored two more goals.

Some excellent interplay from Vine, Boniface and Sanderson kept Langford on their toes and at the restart both teams were very keen.
A 25-yard inch-perfect pass from Patterson to Whitby, who then slipped it under the keeper for our second goal. Leighton were most definitely the attacking team and another perfectly weighted pass from Vine to Whitby gave us the lead.

Langford, however, scored an unstoppable two goals in the last three minutes past Bassett, who had an exceptional game.

Leigthon Town youth U13 3
Elstow Abbey Colts 5
TOWN went into this match on a winning streak. Starting line-up James T in goal and in defence from left to right Kaya E, Liam S, Jamie J, and Joe G.

In midfield George T, Liam G, Alex H and Stuart T, and upfront Luke N, and Jack F. Subs Dan W, Joe C, Luke H, Ashley M. The game started well for Leighton when they went 1-0 up after Alex hit a thundering shot into the top corner.

Shortly after Elstow had a corner, the ball was delivered in and poor defending by Leighton led to Elstow's first goal to make it 1-1.

Some sloppy defending in the space of a couple of minutes led to two more goals, to make it 3-1 to Elstow at the end of the first half.

In the second half, sub Dan scored two goals. Leighton pushed forward looking for the winner only to miss chance after chance and were made to pay as, with five minutes left, Elstow fired a quick ball over the defence and scored to make it 4-3.

Leighton pushed forward for the equaliser and got caught on the break.
It was a match of missed chances as Leighton hit the post six times.

THE first half was played at a fantastic pace, with United, taking the game to the hosts, soon ahead. Town have always lacked belief when playing local rivals, but this time they came straight back with a slide-rule pass putting Danielle one-on-one with United's keeper, the finish coolly ending up in the back of the net.

The teams then played some excellent football, once again, showing the huge crowd the high standard of girls' football in Leighton. United scored again, but were then caught on the break with a move that foiled the off-side trap, leaving Rosie to slot the ball past the advancing keeper.

Half time 2-2 and both sides had played at 100 miles an hour. It could not last.

United came out and were awarded an early penalty. This shocked Town to the core and they never recovered; slowly leaving United more time and space to play. Arguably the highlight of the second half were Amy's multiple point-blank saves from United's striker. Town managed one or two chances through the second half but the game was over. PoM Amy Hake.

Leighton Town U15 2
Toddington Rovers 3
AFTER a slow start, the resolution of Charlie Green, probing passing of Tom Coleman and deft movement of Alfie Ruston established midfield ascendancy for Town. Tom Gordon's superb run and flashing finish then gave Leighton a deserved lead.

The Reds continued to press. A good move involving Luke Binding and Ruston brought a corner that Callum Boskett headed narrowly over.

Tighe Campbell threatened skilfully, and Liam Edwards and Lee Adams defended and attacked effectively down the left. Danny O'Donnell came on and provided variety, but Town couldn't quite convert their many opportunities.

When Toddington threatened, Dominic Cooper, Boskett and Edwards all performed well. Boskett produced an outstanding penalty box block and Matt Fisher made a fine late save to preserve the lead. Gordon then had a potentially crucial goal denied for offside.

Second half substitute Kenneth Doyle made it 2-0 when the referee ignored an offside flag. Unfortunately for Town, he then did exactly the same for a Rovers goal, and the rejuvenated Toddington side equalised when Leighton failed to deal with a long ball.

Town huffed and puffed but didn't really penetrate; a last-second penalty completed their nightmare before Christmas.
Defeat plucked from the jaws of victory.

LEIGHTON UNITED
Caddington Youth 4
Leighton United U13 8
AFTER weeks of waiting, Leighton finally got to play a game and record their first win of the season. Both teams suffered with 10 players, although Leighton could call upon an U12B player in Ellis Turrell, who had a superb game and made the numbers up for United.

The game got off to an explosive start with Jack Ash beating nearly all of the Caddington team to score a great goal. More good football saw Enzo score from close range and, despite Caddington getting a goal back, United went on to score again with Ash, Connew and Jordan Turrell on his debut.

The second half saw the wind in Caddington's favour, although an early goal from Connew settled the result. Despite Caddington again coming back with a goal, United went on with Mortimer and Turrell both finishing after quality team play. In the final stages, the wind helped Caddington with two goals from corners but the result was never in doubt.

Some great kicking and goalkeeping from Joe Elding, brilliant defending from the solid Harding and Bell, along with fast and determined defending from Brown and Moffat showed, despite missing big players, we still have a great team.

Leighton Town U14 girls 2
Leighton United U14 girls 8
SATURDAY morning saw local derby day for United who faced a strong Leighton Town side in a game of two halves. Abi Dolan, Birthday girl Sophie Mulvhill, Shannon Butler and Stephanie Johnson worked well as a unit to help keeper Paige Blacow who continues to improve.

United settled the nerves early on when Jodie Molloy riffled home from long range leaving the competent Town keeper stranded.

United's second came from GoM Rachel Quinn who slotted home from an inch-perfect Grace Yee corner.

Beth Hill came on and worked well upfront creating chances for McClelland who was unlucky not to score more.

At half time the score remained tied with all to play for.
The start of the second half saw a goal-scoring frenzy with the United girls putting away 6. All the girls worked their socks off and deserved the victory. The goal scorers were Jodi McClelland 3, Jodie Molloy 1, Grace Yee 2, Rachel Quinn 1, Beth Taylor who scored her first league goal.
Well done girls!

WOODSIDE
Woodside U12 5
Wolverton Tigermoths 1
WOODIES ensured that it was they who went into the Christmas break the happier with their first win since September.

In their previous outing, Woodies had put in a performance that suggested a win was just round the corner and so it proved to be.
Victory was built on a solid defensive display from stand-in keeper Tom Boozer, MoM Lewis Pascoe, Robbie James, Fionn Bell, and Luke Boyes.

Woodies went close before Kieren Fosberry fired them in front on seven minutes. Six minutes later Robert Irons doubled the lead. The midfield never let their opponents settle, in particular James Harman and Isaac Claridge, but well supported by Dominic Lombino and Oscar Russell.

After a minute of the restart, Charlie Mead capped a fine performance with a deserved goal and 10 minutes later Rhys Davies added a fourth and embarked on some superb trickery and skill to bamboozle his opponents. Keigan Smith who had terrorised the defence all morning rounded off the scoring at the death after Wolverton had pulled one back.

It was a well-deserved win following a string of difficult games in which Woodies never gave up trying.

Woodside Rovers U15 3
Brackley Athletic U15 4
ROVERS lost the lead early on to a strong Brackley side and found themselves in an uphill battle from the start.

In a fiery game, Rovers were able to keep their cool and slowly came back into the match.

It was McGarvey who drew Rovers level with a well-taken volley which flashed passed the Brackley keeper.
The defence of Callaghan, O'Hara, Greany and Arscott-Smith held strong and kept Brackley at bay.

Rovers looked the stronger team in the second half and started well from the whistle with Jell having a goal controversially disallowed.
But Brackley fought back with a nice strike to put them one goal ahead, only for it to be cancelled out by a neat finish from Ryan, beating the keeper at the near post to put Rovers level.

After this, Rovers seemed to tire and Brackley took the initiative, scoring two goals in 10 minutes.

The game turned, with a couple of bookings shown but despite this Rovers kept their cool and when Greany scored with five minutes to go, it left the match on a knife edge.

Rovers, although the better team, couldn't find an equaliser and the game finished 4-3 to Brackley. MoM Jell.

EATON BRAY LIONS
EB Lions U11 1
Langford U11 4
LIONS floundered on Sunday and capitulated to fellow league strugglers Langford, slumping to a 1-4 defeat. There were occasional flashes of potential and Sean Woodhouse's second-half goal was one of several chances created.

Will Juster also made some encouraging attempts at goal but could not pick out a clean strike, a problem which hampered the host team throughout.

There were moments when Lions looked to make a competitive game of it, Alex Poynter setting up the forwards on more than one occasion with some slicing passes, Charlie Nevitt and Aarin Johnson battling a path through the Langford defence, and Chris McGee working his way to a shooting position, but the game progressed with an increasing paucity of chances and the visitors met less resistance as the clock unwound.

Some thorough defensive work came courtesy of James Pratt, Tom Horner, Adam Bradley and deserving MoM Ben Roberts, as usual displaying the level of tenacity that might have won the match had it been adopted by the majority.

Keeper Dan Kennell struggled against the low sun but put together some consummate saves nonetheless, while front men Will Petherbridge and Aaron Gauntlett showed determination in their attempts to create striking opportunities.
